Emotional distance

Pause

1. Take emotional distance. The other party will think that you are calm and shure and that you handle all critical points of the negociations.

2. There are moments/situations that you better don’t react or do nothing.
3. Do it to analyse your situation; what did you achieve till now?
4. What are the next steps;
5. Are you missing something?
6. Ask for a night to think...; go to the bathroom...
7. Tell that you have to contact your partner
8. Write down what upsets you; ask if you heard right? you and the other party get the chance to think about it;
9. In case of stress or pressure; tell you don’t want to be pressed or you stop negociating? It is maybe not your deadline.
10. Can you close the deal? Take time to think.
11. When you have to take a decision. It gives authority.
12. Stay alert when the other party asks for a pause but don’t say no
